Success Stories

The Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce generously accepts interns through programs and educational institutions such as Workforce Solutions, Lamar State College-Port Arthur, and Woodrow Wilson Early College High School. This opportunity prepares individuals for the workforce by allowing them to enhance their office, computer, and administrative assistant skills. Interns are given the opportunity to contact past interns and interview them about their experience at the Chamber. As a current intern here at the Chamber of Commerce, I have had the privilege of interviewing Ms. Michelle Bautista.

Michelle was introduced to the Chamber through Texas Workforce Solutions. With her time spent at the Chamber, Michelle enjoyed the positive work environment and especially learning from the internship supervisor, Mr. Joe Tant. “I really enjoyed how helpful and thorough Joe was with his instructions. Joe took the time to make sure I understood what was going on and even reassured me that it was okay to make mistakes. He never hesitated to answer any questions that I may have had and was always happy to answer them”, Michelle states as she reflected upon her time at the Chamber.

Michelle’s advice to current and future interns would be to “ask many questions and to pay attention to what Joe teaches you because I have used all the skills that I was taught at the Chamber, in my day-to-day life”. Since her time here at the Chamber, Michelle has been focusing on her senior year at Lamar University, where she is Majoring in Criminal Justice. The Chamber is proud to have had Ms. Michelle Bautista as an intern. We wish her the best in her last semester at Lamar and we are excited to see all that she will accomplish!
